Terms & Conditions

These terms govern your use of Provenance Gate (the "Service"), operated by 2OGS LLC ("2OGS", "we", "us"). By creating an account, publishing values, or continuing to use the Service, you agree to these terms. You are contracting with 2OGS LLC.

1. The Service

Provenance Gate is a public registry of quantitative values in which every stored number carries a declared provenance — measured, modeled, derived, or imported — enforced by the database at write time. The Service includes the public census, per-organization census pages, the embeddable badge, the write console, and related APIs.

2. Accounts and authority

You must provide accurate information when creating an account and keep it up to date. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and for all activity under your account. If you create an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these terms.

3. Acceptable use

You must not misuse the Service, including:

  • Unlawful use, fraud, or spam;
  • Infringing intellectual property rights;
  • Interfering with the Service's security, including malware, probing, or scraping beyond the public API;
  • Publishing values with provenance labels you know to be false or misleading. The enforcement layer checks structure, not truth — the honesty of the label is your commitment, and deliberate mislabeling is a material breach of these terms.

4. Your content

You retain ownership of the values, methods, and descriptions you publish. You grant 2OGS a limited, non-exclusive license to host, process, and publicly display that content as needed to operate the Service — including the public census, your public census page, the badge, and the public change log. You are responsible for ensuring you have the rights to publish what you submit.

5. Intellectual property

2OGS retains ownership of the Service and its intellectual property, including software, documentation, and branding. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the Service within your selected plan. You may not reverse engineer the Service, resell or redistribute it, or circumvent plan limits.

6. Payments and subscriptions

Paid plans are billed monthly or yearly through our online reseller, Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns. Payment, billing, tax, cancellation, and refund mechanics are governed by Paddle's Buyer Terms. Subscriptions renew automatically until canceled; you can cancel at any time and keep access until the end of the paid period. See our Refund Policy.

7. Service level

We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. The public census and badges are provided on a best-effort basis, and we may perform maintenance that temporarily affects availability.

8. No professional advice

Provenance labels describe how a number was produced, not whether it is correct, complete, or fit for any decision. The Service is not a source of financial, investment, legal, tax, or regulatory-compliance advice. Decisions made on published values are your own responsibility.

9. Warranties and liability

The Service is provided "as is". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all implied warranties, including merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose. We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or special damages — including loss of profits, data, or goodwill. Our aggregate liability is capped at the fees you paid in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms excludes liability for fraud, death, or personal injury where the law requires it.

10. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate access for material breach, non-payment, security or fraud risk, or repeated or serious violations of these terms — including deliberate mislabeling of provenance. On termination, your public census page and badge are taken offline; you may request an export of your published values within 30 days.

11. General

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, excluding conflict-of-law rules. You may not assign these terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a merger or acquisition. We are not liable for failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control. If any provision is unenforceable, the rest remain in effect.
